As summer slides into fall, all I want is to sit on the porch with my mom, talking about this next life transition while sipping on something simple but special. In all of the change that can happen towards the end of summer, pausing and enjoying a moment can do wonders for the soul.
A grapefruit mint mocktail fits the bill nicely. Refreshing, not too sweet, and something a little different.
Grapefruit is high in powerful antioxidants, which remove free radicals from the body, including vitamin C, beta-carotene, and lycopene. And with local mint flourishing, this is sure to be a drink your body will love.
Feel free to add twists to the recipe. A bit of lime would be great, maybe a splash of a shrub. Or keep it simple. It is through wholesome food and awareness of the food system that we can honor ourselves and our planet.

Grapefruit Mint Mocktail
Ingredients
– The Mountain Valley sparkling water
– R. W. Knudsen grapefruit juice
– Fresh mint leaves
– Sea salt*
– Turbinado sugar*
– Stockin’s raw wildflower honey
– Optional: ice cubes
– Optional: seasonal berries
Instructions
- On a small plate, put about 1 part sea salt to 2 parts turbinado sugar. Mix with a dry spoon for even dispersal. The quantity you make will depend on the number of drinks you’re making, and feel free to edit the ratio depending on your preference.
- Using a spoon, get a small dollop of honey and coat the very top of the glass rim. You don’t want it dripping down the sides, and a little bit of honey goes a long way.
- Turn the glass upside down and place the honey-coated end in the salt/sugar mixture. One or two times of this should be sufficient to fully coat the rim.
- Crush the mint leaves either by rubbing them together or ripping them up a little. Place in glass. Optional: Place a couple ice cubes and a few seasonal berries in the glass as well. The berries are more for appearance.
- Fill half the glass with sparkling water and half the glass with grapefruit juice. Enjoy!
